Zimbabwe was added to Trump’s travel restrictions list

The US is slapping new travel restrictions on Zimbabweans starting next year. The Trump administration added Zimbabwe to a list of nations facing tighter entry controls, citing security screening weaknesses and high visa overstay rates. The move imposes partial restrictions, not a full ban, targeting certain visa categories.

This marks the third expansion of the controversial travel ban policy. Alongside Zimbabwe, countries like Nigeria and Tanzania also face partial limits, while nations including Mali and Syria are under full entry bans. US officials stated the restrictions will remain until affected governments improve identity management and cooperation on deportations.

Exemptions exist for permanent US residents, current visa holders, and diplomats. The announcement creates fresh uncertainty for Zimbabwean travelers, students, and businesspeople with US connections, signaling increased scrutiny and potential hurdles for future trips.
