Zimbabweans Keep Calm and Carry On

The government asks everyone in Zimbabwe to keep living life as normal. Dr. Jenfan Muswere from the Information Ministry says police officers stand ready to protect citizens across the country. He spoke to reporters yesterday in the capital city. Dr. Muswere wants people to ignore fake calls for protests that spread on social media platforms. He calls these messages the work of "cyber terrorists" and says security teams can handle any problems that might come up.

Dr. Muswere pointed out that peace continues across Zimbabwe according to the Constitution, including this coming Monday, March 31, 2025. He mentioned that some troublemakers use computer-generated videos to trick people. Anyone trying to create panic or chaos will face legal consequences. The government believes nobody has the right to try removing elected officials through illegal means. Workers, businesses, students, and all citizens should carry on with regular activities.

The Minister explained that calls for protests try to make people believe a crisis exists when it actually does not. He urged citizens to avoid joining illegal gatherings that harm constitutional rights. Minister Kazembe Kazembe from Home Affairs added similar promises about safety. He assured everyone that peace exists today and will continue tomorrow. Security forces watch for anyone who might disrupt daily life. The Minister warned people not to believe old videos being shared as current events.

Kazembe cautioned Zimbabweans against helping criminals who want to steal from stores during fake protests. He criticized troublemakers supported by people living outside the country who target individuals and buildings. The government condemns the recent fire attacks in Harare, Goromonzi, and Sanyati. Police teams investigate these cases with help from other government agencies, including vehicle registration offices. Law enforcement asks all citizens to resist any attempts at starting fires or breaking laws.

Police officials released a statement saying that Zimbabwe remains peaceful, and people can move freely throughout the country. They want the public to ignore false messages about law enforcement. Nobody will stop you from entering downtown areas, going to work, or attending church services. Officers plan to take strong action against anyone who blocks others from working or disrupts daily activities by claiming to demonstrate or strike. Police Commissioner-General Stephen Mutamba talked with education officials about private schools that sent students home based on false rumors.

Security teams in Masvingo province promise to stay alert to protect residents. Minister Ezra Chadzamira spoke at the Benjamin Burombo Government Complex on Saturday, with security officials present. He promised they would deal with anyone trying to disrupt peace or normal business. The Minister encouraged residents, businesses, and schools to continue operating as usual, guaranteeing their safety. He said various security branches stand ready because of social media posts calling for unlawful actions.

Business leaders, religious figures, and regular citizens continue speaking against protest calls, seeing them as harmful to progress. Nigerian televangelist Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, who founded Christ Embassy, strongly rejected the planned March 31 demonstrations during a broadcast to his followers. He described protest organizers as "agents of the devil" and asked Christians throughout Zimbabwe to fast and pray for their country today. The pastor questioned why these people wanted to protest and warned they aimed to damage the nation.

The head of Zimbabwe's retail association, Mr. Denford Mutashu, announced that all stores would open as usual on Monday. His group contacted security officials and received firm promises that police and other agencies had made arrangements to maintain peace. They plan to protect businesses, workers, and shoppers during this time. The retail association appreciates these security efforts and encourages all businesses to operate normally. Mr. Mutashu reminded store owners to follow current laws and regulations as they serve customers.
