ZimTrade flogs cigars and cereal to Africa in Nairobi

ZimTrade is coordinating participation for more than 20 Zimbabwean companies at the 18th Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa Business Forum and Exhibition from Oct. 6 through Oct. 9 in Nairobi. Seven companies will display products physically, while others appear through the ZimTrade pavilion at the event preceding the 24th COMESA Heads of State and Government Summit.

Chief Executive Officer Allan Majuru said the forum offers Zimbabwean enterprises opportunities to network with regional partners and establish market connections that strengthen the country's export capacity. The participation demonstrates Zimbabwe's commitment to regional integration as businesses showcase agriculture, manufacturing, leather, and tourism products to potential distributors and investors across Africa.

COMESA comprises 21 member states with a combined GDP exceeding $768 billion and a population of more than 560 million people. The regional bloc provides Zimbabwean exporters access to preferential markets and serves as a gateway to the broader African Continental Free Trade Area framework connecting 55 economies.

The Zimbabwe Tourism Authority will promote safari destinations and cultural heritage sites to strengthen regional tourism linkages. The exhibition program features sector-specific seminars on Oct. 6 and Oct. 7, followed by multi-sectoral exhibitions through Oct. 9, designed to stimulate public-private dialogue and support small enterprise growth.
