Zubimendi double sinks Forest as Arsenal thrash Postecoglou's side 3-0

Martin Zubimendi scored twice as Arsenal defeated Nottingham Forest 3-0 at Emirates Stadium on Saturday. The Spanish midfielder netted his maiden goals for the Gunners following his summer transfer from Real Sociedad. Viktor Gyokeres added the second strike after halftime to complete a dominant performance. Ange Postecoglou suffered defeat in his first match as Forest manager after replacing the dismissed Nuno Espirito Santo. The victory moved Arsenal to the Premier League summit on goal difference ahead of Liverpool.

Zubimendi opened the scoring with a volley from the penalty area edge that deflected past goalkeeper Matz Sels. Gyokeres doubled the advantage within a minute of the restart when Eberechi Eze provided the cross for a simple finish. The Swedish striker nearly extended the lead further with an effort against the post. Zubimendi completed his brace with a header from Leandro Trossard's delivery. Captain Martin Odegaard departed early with a shoulder injury to join an extensive casualty list.
