Bulawayo Smashes Education Records Rural Struggles
Bulawayo leads Zimbabwe with the best education rates. A major health survey from 2023 to 2024 shows almost everyone there can read and write. The city has 99 percent literacy for women and men. Rural areas lag behind cities across the country. Only 68 percent of rural women and 70 percent of rural men finished high school. The Zimbabwe National Statistics Agency talked to nearly 14,000 people for this study. They visited homes from December through May to gather facts. Urban residents do much better than rural folks at school. About 91 percent of city women and 92 percent of city men went to high school or college. Air Angels Save Rural Lives in Zimbabwe
HELIDRIVE National Air Rescue Service helps sick people across Zimbabwe. The program saves lives through a partnership between Zimbabwe and Russia. Since last year, helicopters have carried 485 patients to hospitals. Many came from remote areas where roads are bad and hospitals are far away. About 40 percent were children who needed urgent medical care. The service reaches patients within one hour. Before HELIDRIVE started, people from places like Binga and Tsholotsho often died because they could not reach doctors fast enough. Bad roads made travel dangerous and slow. The air ambulance changes everything for families who live far from cities. Dr Major Mhondiwa works with the helicopter team. He says the service helps many people from...

The Popular Democratic Movement plans to cut 16 jobs because money problems hurt the party after losing big in 2024 elections. Documents show the party faces total money collapse without quick action to fix spending problems. Management wants 16 regional workers and three group leaders to take three months off without pay. After that break they would come...

Outjo Fire Station Not Dead CEO Rages at Rumors
Outjo leader Jaco Labuschagne denies claims that the Sophia Shaningwa Fire Station lacks power. The acting chief executive says people spread false information about emergency services. He told reporters the station works fine with prepaid electricity meters installed months ago. Labuschagne feels angry about wrong stories damaging the town's reputation. The fire station operates normally except for one night when garage doors stayed closed due to low electricity credits. Workers opened the doors by hand and used all vehicles for emergency calls. The municipality runs training sessions and meetings at the facility regularly. Staff never stopped working during the temporary door problem. Thieves broke into the station and stole fuel...
