Makandiwa says street evictions need backup plan
Prophet Emmanuel Makandiwa weighed in on the recent vendor evictions, emphasizing the need for compassion and practicality. He argued that removing street vendors should come with a clear path to survival. Though he doesn't support illegal street trading, Makandiwa believes the government's approach lacks empathy. He highlighted a poignant example of an elderly woman supporting seven grandchildren through street vending. For her, selling on the street isn't just a choice—it's a lifeline. Removing her means taking away her primary means of providing food and necessities for her family. Makandiwa urged authorities to think beyond simply clearing streets. He stressed the importance of creating alternative economic opportunities for those...
US Chip Self Sufficiency is a Tall Order
Japanese politician Akira Amari sees limits to America's chip dreams. As a semiconductor expert, he points out that the US can make the actual chips but lacks much else. The supply chain includes special tools, chemicals, and parts from places like Japan, Taiwan, and South Korea. Building everything inside US borders just isn't going to happen. Amari thinks countries already making these crucial supplies should team up. They could build stronger networks at home instead of rushing to help American factories. His view comes right after TSMC said they'd put another $100 billion toward US operations. No matter how big or rich a country might be, making chips requires global teamwork. The problem goes beyond just setting up factories...

War Vets and Youths Throw Down in Bulawayo
Chaos broke out Monday at the Bulawayo Media Centre when youths interrupted a press meeting set up by war veterans. These young people said they belonged to a group named Youth Connect. The veterans had come together to talk about how Zimbabwe is run. They also planned to announce a march against corruption, tribalism, and economic problems in their country. The veterans labeled the youths as hired hands and state agents who came to stop them from speaking freely. They made it clear their actions did not link to any political party. They just wanted Zimbabwe to gain the freedom they fought for during their war days. This all happened right in front of reporters and police officers in uniform. It shows growing tension between some war...
Invest in Kids and Watch Winners Grow

Council gives vendors a break, moves them to new spots
Bulawayo City Council decided against tough action on street vendors after the Government told them to clear the streets within 48 hours. Deputy Mayor Edwin Ndlovu explained they want to move vendors to proper spots first before making anyone leave. The city already started this process before the government deadline came down. They plan to transfer all sellers from 5th Avenue and other places to legal trading areas like Bakta's and Egodini. City leaders have almost finished moving registered vendors to official spots built by the council. They will team up with Zimbabwe police later to enforce rules since municipal officers can't arrest people. Numbers show most vendors lack proper permits to sell goods legally. Out of 3,416 total...
