A road accident in Ntoroko District on Wednesday afternoon left at least 15 people injured. The incident occurred around 12:30 p.m. at Economic Village along the Fort Portal–Bundibugyo road. A Toyota Hiace taxi, traveling from Kasese to Bundibugyo, reportedly lost control after its brakes failed. The vehicle overturned into a trench, damaging a telecommunications pole and a nearby house before halting.
Authorities identified several injured passengers, including Oliver Masika and her daughter Ruth Mbireka, along with Regina Ntungu, Margaret Billy, and Phenahance Besigye. Other victims included Ruth Karibanda, Levina Kabugho, and Reuben Namanya. The injured were promptly transported to Karugutu Health Centre IV for treatment. A manhunt is underway for the taxi driver, who fled the scene after the crash.
