25-year-old Namanya unseats incumbent Kamateneti in Ntungamo

Twenty-five-year-old Viola Namanya secured the National Resistance Movement flag for Woman Member of Parliament in Ntungamo District. The young candidate defeated incumbent Josyline Bata Kamateneti in a decisive victory that reshaped local politics. Namanya captured 14,376 votes while Kamayangye Glorious earned 10,810, and Kamateneti received 9,309. Additional candidates received smaller vote totals ranging from 268 to 1,392. Her support base in Ruhaama and Rushenyi counties proved instrumental to her success.

The victorious candidate pledged to advance district development and champion youth empowerment initiatives. Namanya emphasized her commitment to the NRM party vision and promised inclusive governance for all constituents. Election officials reported peaceful voting procedures without significant irregularities across most locations. The candidate hails from Mutojo village in Rwengoma Parish within Ruhaama constituency.

Other primary contests produced mixed results across Ntungamo District constituencies. Naome Kabasharira won Rushenyi County while Moses Kahima retained his position in Ruhaama East. James Hunter Bwenjeeru emerged victorious in Kajara County during the competitive selection process.
