28 Years Later finale freaks fans with Savile cult vibe

The newest zombie movie 28 Years Later has people talking after its shocking final scene. Director Danny Boyle brings back the horror franchise with a story about a boy named Spike who lives on a safe island. Alfie Williams plays Spike and Aaron Taylor-Johnson plays his father who takes him to the dangerous mainland. Jodie Comer and Ralph Fiennes also star in this long-awaited film. The movie ignores the 2007 sequel and continues from the original 2002 story.

Audiences cannot agree about the movie's ending where Spike meets a strange cult leader called Jimmy Crystal. Jack O'Connell plays this character who leads followers dressed like disgraced TV host Jimmy Savile. The cult members wear shell suits and blonde wigs and know martial arts. Many viewers feel disgusted and angry about this choice. Others find the scene creepy and effective for the horror story.

Social media exploded with mixed reactions after people saw the film. Some fans called the ending revolting and questioned how studios approved such content. Different viewers thought the scene was smart and chilling once they understood the reference. British audiences especially recognized the Jimmy Savile connection and its dark implications. The controversy has made the movie more talked about online.

Danny Boyle hints that Jimmy Crystal appears earlier in the film and will play a major role in the sequel. The next movie called The Bone Temple comes out in January 2026. Cillian Murphy returns as Jim from the original film for this upcoming story.
