3 men tied to 50 robberies after Bulawayo officer murder

Police caught three men last week after they killed a cop in Bulawayo. These men face questions about 50 violent thefts around the city since last April. Albert Munangati, Clifford Desmond Nare, and Thabo Dube ended up behind bars after police shot dead two of their friends during their arrest. They likely murdered Sergeant Abel Masava on March 28 when he saw them acting strangely at midnight. Masava had stopped his car near a house where he helped solve a family argument when someone shot him dead.

Police chief Paul Nyathi found the gun that killed Masava with these suspects. The three men appear to be connected to many armed robberies between April last year and last month. Nyathi told reporters Monday how these cases link together across Bulawayo. The gang attacked Fundisi Mine last April, where they stole $2,704 cash from workers. They scared their victims using pistols, knives, and wooden sticks during that crime.

The same criminals robbed a gas station in Cowdray Park on March 15 and escaped with 186,000 South African rand. Nyathi wants anyone with information to come forward and help finish the investigation. These arrests finally stopped a crime wave that scared people throughout Zimbabwe's second biggest city for almost a year. Residents feel relieved knowing these dangerous men can no longer threaten their neighborhood. Police continue looking into every robbery case to make sure they solve each crime committed by this violent gang.
