A robber executes a ZRP cop at the Sanyati station

A Zimbabwe Republic Police constable died after a gunman shot him at Sanyati Police Station early on Sunday morning while searching for detectives who had raided his residence. The 32-year-old officer was attending to a civilian reporting an assault when the armed man entered and demanded information about the Criminal Investigations Department personnel and $1,000 he claimed was taken from his home. Constable Courage Muchechesi was struck in the abdomen as he attempted to flee and collapsed outside the building shortly after 2 a.m.

Authorities arrested the shooter, who is connected to the August killing of Ruwa businessman Joseph Mutangadura. The man had earlier wounded a detective in a shootout at his house before escaping and traveling to the station. He recorded a video after the incident, stating he fired at Muchechesi because the constable refused to follow his commands, though the officer had no connection to the investigation. The wounded detective remains hospitalized in stable condition.
