Accused in Hadi murder case remanded, probe deepens

Two more suspects got locked up in that political murder case. A Dhaka court sent Civion Dew and Sanjay Chisim to jail after police finished interrogating them, alleging they helped the main suspect, Foysal Karim Masud, flee to India after the killing of Sharif Osman Hadi. Hadi, an independent candidate for Dhaka-8 and a spokesperson for the group Inqilab Moncho, was shot by motorcycle assailants while riding a rickshaw in the city's Bijoynagar area.

The case was originally filed for attempted murder by the group's member secretary, Abdullah Al Zaber, at Paltan Model Police Station. It was upgraded to a full murder charge after Hadi died from his injuries. The two accused had previously been granted two separate rounds of remand by different additional chief metropolitan magistrates before being sent to jail pending further investigation.
