Ahsan Iqbal faces fire as Pakistan's economic miracle claims trigger public fury

Pakistan's top planning boss Ahsan Iqbal revealed stunning economic numbers that show the country bouncing back from tough times. The government spent a record 1,046 billion rupees on development projects during the past year. Officials managed to use 96 percent of their development budget for the first time ever. The massive spending created thousands of jobs and boosted key sectors across Pakistan. Economic growth picked up speed while inflation dropped to the lowest level in nine years.

Overseas Pakistanis sent home 38 billion dollars in remittances during the year. The huge cash flow represents a 27 percent jump that shows growing confidence in government policies. Pakistan's stock market rocketed up 65 percent and became one of the best performers worldwide. Foreign exchange reserves climbed 26 percent higher than last year. Fuel prices fell 5 percent while electricity bills dropped by 35 percent for ordinary families.

Government officials approved 33 major development projects during June alone. Balochistan province received 210 billion rupees for 147 different infrastructure programs. Officials launched a 2.15 billion rupee digital project connecting 30 cities in northern regions. The summer internship program brought 31 Pakistani students from top international universities back home for six weeks. Pakistan's passport ranking improved from 113th place to 100th globally.
