AI sex robots just got feelings

Tech firms rush to add AI features to adult robots as they transform from simple dolls into emotional partners. Several leading manufacturers plan to launch new AI-powered models this month, including Chinese company WMDoll with its updated MetaBox series. These robots connect to cloud computing services through Llama AI modules located across multiple data centers.

The robots have various character voices, including those of a nurse, police officer, student, secretary, teacher, or superhero. They feature metal skeletons covered in silicone or thermoplastic with heating elements. Most importantly, these machines remember past conversations and provide emotional feedback to their users.

Market experts believe these adult robots will evolve rapidly from physical tools into emotional companions within a year. Goldman Sachs predicts the global humanoid robot market will reach $154 billion by 2035. The adult robot segment alone may exceed $30 billion next year, with China controlling about 40 percent of production.

Chinese leadership in this industry seems surprising for an authoritarian nation that closely monitors its citizens. These developments confirm predictions made last year about generative AI applications focusing on intimate relationships, though they arrived faster than expected.
