Aisha Ayensu takes the spotlight, creative economy talks

The founder of the Christie Brown fashion label just told Ghana's government to wake up and stop ignoring the creative industry after picking up an award. Aisha Ayensu basically said policymakers are sleeping on a massive opportunity because the creative sector is the country's best advertisement for bringing in foreign cash and investment.

She called out leaders directly and told them that music, fashion, and art are what make Ghana appealing to outsiders who might want to invest in infrastructure projects. The designer has dressed Beyoncé and other major celebrities since launching her luxury brand back in 2008, and Forbes recognized her as a promising entrepreneur years ago. She grabbed multiple designer-of-the-year awards and keeps pushing for more recognition and funding for creative workers across the country.
