AMD copies NVIDIA's playbook, locks new FSR 4 to its own cards

AMD released its FidelityFX SDK 2.0 at Gamescom 2025 alongside FSR 4 availability for game developers. The updated software development kit enables access to machine learning-based neural rendering technologies and FSR Redstone capabilities. Developers can integrate these advanced features into their gaming projects through streamlined implementation processes. The SDK architecture prepares for next-generation AMD hardware and artificial intelligence-powered technologies. Future driver updates will automatically enhance ML-based gaming technologies without requiring individual game patches.

FSR 4 delivers superior image quality compared to previous FSR 3 versions through artificial intelligence upscaling methods. The technology reduces ghosting artifacts on moving objects while preserving particle effects and temporal stability. Developers benefit from simple API upgrade paths and Unreal Engine 5 plugin support for easier adoption. AMD Radeon RX 9000 series graphics cards or newer hardware support FSR 4 functionality. The advancement positions AMD closer to competing neural rendering techniques in the graphics processing market.
