AMD MI450 Rack Ready To Crush Nvidia AI

AMD wants to jump into AI computing with new hardware coming next year. The company plans to release its first rack systems, Instinct MI450 clusters, around late 2026. These machines will pack either 128 or 64 special chips designed to handle artificial intelligence tasks. Engineers at AMD created a connection system that moves data faster than what rival NVIDIA offers in similar products. The new technology promises 1.8 trillion bytes per second between each chip.

The larger system might face manufacturing challenges because of its complex design. AMD may focus more on selling the smaller 64-chip version, which should be easier to build. Both systems will use special network cards for communicating between racks of computers. The company hopes these products will help it compete against NVIDIA, which currently leads the market for AI hardware. This move shows AMD believes it can offer better performance for companies building large AI systems.
