AMD swears GPU prices stay sane while memory goes feral

AMD swears affordable graphics cards remain possible, but the math looks absolutely terrible currently. Ryzen boss David McAfee recently claimed the company utilizes long-standing partnerships to secure memory chips without destroying wallets. The executive insisted that controlling the component ecosystem sits at the heart of their business strategy. He admitted that building affordable hardware presents a massive challenge at this moment.

The ongoing AI obsession caused a severe global DRAM shortage that spiked costs everywhere. Most manufacturers shifted priority toward enterprise clients while raising consumer prices. Reports suggest NVIDIA struggles to supply the GeForce RTX 5070 Ti due to these constraints. Competitors apparently focused on smaller memory capacities to maintain volume.

McAfee explained that his team collaborates closely with board partners to mitigate these hikes. He noted that the exit of a major supplier from the consumer game makes sourcing inventory harder. Team Red hopes to maintain sticker prices near standard levels despite the chaos. However, nobody knows if they can actually deliver on that promise, given the wild market volatility.
