Amit Shah leads the Faridabad zonal meet

Union Home Minister Amit Shah will chair the Northern Zonal Council's 32nd gathering in Faridabad, where representatives from eight states and union territories will address critical governance matters. The agenda includes accelerating investigations into sexual crimes against women and children, expanding Fast Track Special Courts, and establishing physical banking facilities in rural villages. Additional topics cover the Emergency Response Support System rollout and regional concerns spanning nutrition programs, education, healthcare, electricity access, urban development, and cooperative frameworks.

The council brings together Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Rajasthan, Delhi, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, and Chandigarh, with Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini serving as vice-chairperson. Established through the States Reorganisation Act of 1956, these advisory bodies have convened 63 times across all five zones over the past decade. The forum enables resolution of disputes between federal and state authorities while fostering cooperation among member jurisdictions.
