Amit Shah tells Indians to buy local or stay poor

Union Home Minister Amit Shah encouraged Indians on Saturday to buy domestic products this Diwali and reject foreign merchandise to strengthen the nation. Shah spoke at a public gathering near Panaji after launching the Mhaje Ghar Yojana housing program and laying foundations for infrastructure projects. The initiative will grant legal ownership to Goan residents whose properties face 11 types of legal complications and will affect nearly half the state population.

Shah criticized Congress for dismissing Goa as insignificant but said the small state could achieve full development by 2035 under current policies. He referenced Prime Minister Narendra Modi's tax exemption for annual incomes below 12 lakh rupees and urged Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to expand the Swayampurna Goa welfare program. Shah said responsive governance under Modi demonstrates the ruling party's commitment to citizen-focused reforms and predicted Goa would become India's first fully developed state.
