Anwar begs Trump to save Palestine in KL meeting

Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said on Sunday he wants his upcoming meeting with President Donald Trump to advance Palestinian statehood and rights. Trump will attend the ASEAN-US Summit and East Asia Summit in Kuala Lumpur later this month, alongside the ASEAN Summit. Anwar expressed support for Hamas accepting portions of a 20-point ceasefire proposal that includes releasing Israeli captives within 72 hours in exchange for Palestinian prisoners.

The plan requires ending hostilities, disarming Gaza armed groups, and withdrawing Israeli forces from the territory that would transition to technocratic administration. Anwar praised Trump for urging Israel to stop the bombardment and allow humanitarian assistance into Gaza. The prime minister said Arab states, Turkey, and Islamic nations will sustain ceasefire efforts, while the United States must pressure Israel to honor diplomatic commitments and create space for negotiations.
