Apple’s OLED redesign coming only to M6 Pro, Max Macs

Apple plans to limit OLED displays and redesigned chassis exclusively to MacBook Pro models equipped with M6 Pro and M6 Max processors, according to Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman. The updated machines will feature thinner bodies, touchscreen capabilities, and modified hinges while retaining 14-inch and 16-inch screen dimensions. Entry-level M6 MacBook Pro versions will continue using mini-LED technology and existing designs.

Launch timing for the premium models remains uncertain due to potential supply chain complications. Samsung aims to complete the installation of OLED manufacturing equipment by the fourth quarter of 2026, though production delays could push the MacBook Pro release into early 2027. Display screen sizes will remain at 14 inches and 16 inches despite the hardware changes.

Apple separately intends to release M5 Pro, M5 Max, and M5 Ultra processors during the first half of 2026 for MacBook Pro and Mac Studio refreshes. The company also plans M5-powered MacBook Air and Mac mini launches within that timeframe.
