Apple Drops Pro iPhones in Fall and Standard in Spring

Apple plans to split its iPhone launches across different seasons next year. The company will release iPhone 18 Pro models in fall 2026 but delay standard versions until spring 2027. This marks a major shift from releasing all models at the same time. The new foldable iPhone will also debut with the Pro lineup in the fall season. Budget models priced under $999 will arrive in spring.

The tech giant aims to have six iPhone models after adding the foldable device. Apple will make premium phones in China because of advanced manufacturing capabilities there. Less expensive models will come from factories in India to reduce Chinese dependence after the Trump tax increases. The separate launch times let Apple hire fewer workers during each release period. All iPhone 17 models will still launch together this September before the new schedule starts. The 2026 Pro models will feature hidden Face ID sensors behind the screen with a punch-hole camera on the left side.
