Apple rolls out iOS 18.6 to fix Photos app bug and boost security ahead of iOS 26

Apple launched iOS 18.6 for iPhone users to address a persistent Photos application malfunction. The software update resolves memory movie sharing failures that affected device owners for an extended period. Users can download the patch through their device settings by accessing the Software Update section. The company simultaneously distributed corresponding updates for iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, and Apple TV platforms. Security enhancements accompany the bug corrections across all supported hardware.

The Photos app glitch prevented users from distributing memory movies to contacts and social media platforms. Apple acknowledged this specific problem within the official release documentation. The update represents one of the final iOS 18 versions before the September arrival of iOS 26. The forthcoming major release will feature a comprehensive Liquid Glass interface redesign for compatible iPhone models. Technology analysts expect minimal additional iOS 18 updates given the advanced development stage of the next-generation operating system.
