Apple would rather lose the market than make an affordable AirPod

Chinese consumers drive artificial intelligence headset sales through budget purchases under seventy dollars. Runto Technology research reveals these affordable wireless audio devices capture 60.1 percent of market revenue during early 2025. This represents substantial growth from 18.8 percent recorded in late 2024. Mid-range products between 139 and 209 dollars secure 27 percent of total sales. Premium offerings above this price range maintain only four percent market presence.

Apple faces constraints when competing against budget manufacturers in this segment. The company's entry-level AirPods 4 retail for nearly one hundred dollars on Amazon without noise cancellation features. Creating cheaper alternatives would damage Apple's reputation for premium quality products. Market analysts expect the technology giant to enhance existing product lines rather than reduce prices. The anticipated AirPods Pro 3 launch next month represents this strategy of feature enhancement over cost reduction.
