Arsenal and Takehiro Tomiyasu Agree to Mutual Contract Termination

Arsenal decided to part ways with Japanese defender Takehiro Tomiyasu after both sides agreed to end his contract early. The Daily Mail reported that the club and player reached this mutual decision because injuries have plagued the 26-year-old throughout his time there. Tomiyasu signed a deal that was meant to last until summer 2026 but persistent fitness problems made it impossible for him to play regularly. Doctors say he needs about five to six months before he can step back onto the field from his latest setback. The defender joined Arsenal three years ago when he moved from Italian team Bologna.

The constant injury troubles forced both parties to make this difficult choice about his future. Tomiyasu has struggled to stay healthy since arriving at the North London club and missed many important matches. Arsenal management felt it was best for everyone to cancel the remaining time on his contract rather than keep him on the books during his long recovery. The Japanese international will focus on getting his body right before deciding where to play next. His departure ends a challenging period that never allowed him to show his true abilities for the Gunners.
