Arsenal Set to Sign Chelsea Goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga for £5m

Arsenal will sign Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga before the weekend ends. The Spanish keeper has a release clause worth 5 million pounds after extending his contract last summer. Kepa spent a successful loan period at Bournemouth during the recent season. The 30-year-old international player will move to Emirates Stadium to challenge David Raya for the starting position. Arsenal managers decided they needed a second choice goalkeeper for the upcoming campaign.

The London club chose not to make Neto's loan deal permanent after his temporary stay from Bournemouth. Kepa remains the most expensive goalkeeper purchase in football history after Chelsea paid 72 million pounds for him. Athletic Bilbao sold their academy product to the Premier League club during 2018. The Spanish shot-stopper made 163 appearances for Chelsea across seven seasons at Stamford Bridge. He collected four major trophies during his mixed spell with the Blues.

Kepa also spent one season away from Chelsea on loan at Real Madrid. The Spanish giants won La Liga and the Champions League during the 2023-24 campaign with Kepa contributing. His experience at the highest level makes him an attractive option for Arsenal's goalkeeping department. The move represents a fresh start for Kepa after his challenging periods at previous clubs. Arsenal fans expect the signing to strengthen their squad depth for domestic and European competitions.
