Atingi-Ego to headline Kampala blockchain summit

The Blockchain Association of Uganda has confirmed that Bank of Uganda Governor Michael Atingi-Ego will provide the keynote speech at the Kampala Blockchain Summit 2025 at the Four Points by Sheraton, Kampala. The event will focus on establishing Uganda as a regional center for virtual assets, following recent cabinet approval of a risk assessment report on virtual assets and money laundering concerns.

A fireside discussion between BAU President Reginald Tumusiime and the governor will address stablecoin regulation and financial inclusion after the keynote. Olivier Fines from the CFA Institute will present research on tokenization, while industry leaders from Absa Bank Uganda and MTN Mobile Money Uganda will participate in panel discussions examining blockchain applications.

The summit agenda includes regulatory roundtable talks with officials from the Central Bank of Uganda, Financial Intelligence Authority, and Capital Markets Authority. Organizers plan to launch a working group dedicated to virtual assets during the event, with networking sessions and entertainment scheduled throughout the program.
