Atomic Heart 2 is all about deeper RPG play and a living world

Mundfish revealed new details about Atomic Heart 2 during Summer Game Fest 2025. Robert Bagratuni leads the studio as founder and game director. He discussed major changes coming to the sequel during a recent interview. The company plans to expand role-playing features throughout the game. Players will experience a much larger world compared to the first title.

The sequel adds deeper character development systems for players. Weapon modification options will give users more control over their equipment. Skill trees allow people to customize their fighting style. Mission outcomes change based on player decisions during the game. Companion characters will join players on their journey.

Bagratuni described the world as more connected and open for exploration. Vehicles help players move around the expanded environments. New climbing tools let people reach higher areas. Weather patterns and daily cycles affect both mood and gameplay mechanics. The studio wants players to feel curious about exploring between main missions.

The development team focuses on creating a polished experience for fans. Environmental systems will respond to player actions throughout the adventure. Larger spaces give people freedom to revisit areas and discover secrets. The narrative remains central to the overall experience despite the expanded scope. Story logic drives all the new gameplay features.

Atomic Heart 2 remains several years away from release according to Bagratuni. The studio wants to ensure the sequel feels tight and immersive. Mundfish continues working on the project with their signature surreal style. Players can expect more agency and meaningful choices throughout their adventure. The company will share additional updates as development progresses.
