Audio Modeling debuted its polyphonic PolySWAM plugin

PolySWAM lets Audio Modeling's SWAM engine play full chords without sample playback. The older SWAM range sticks to solo notes for more detail and control. This new plugin takes a different route, as it can split notes across a group of virtual players. Quite a shift for the lineup.

Its physical modeling tech makes each sound as a person plays, rather than pulling audio from recordings. Smart note routing handles smooth links, short hits, pitch slides, and shifts in volume. Players can move between chords and lead parts without having to keep switching patches.

Preset choices cover small chamber groups, full symphonic sounds, brass, funk bands, and film-style mixes. A musician can pick one and get straight to playing. No giant sample setup or long list of MIDI tweaks to deal with. That could save composers and beat makers a fair bit of prep.

Emanuele Ruffinengo helped build the plugin alongside Audio Modeling. The Latin GRAMMY winner brings skills in music production, piano, arranging, and tech. His work adds to a tool aimed at studio use and live MIDI sets.

PolySWAM costs $379 and works on both Mac and Windows. VST3, AU, and AAX plugin formats are available, giving users a few ways to run it in their music software.
