A barber died inside his shop Sunday after his family found him unresponsive. James Opoku worked at Time Enterprise located within New Site and the Effia-Kwesimintsim Municipality. The 43-year-old man went missing when his wife Christina Mensah could not reach him through phone calls. She sent their son Shadrach to check on his father at the barbershop. The teenager discovered the container shop was locked from inside.
Shadrach knocked on the door and called for his father many times without hearing any response. He entered the shop and found Opoku dead near the front entrance. The son noticed clear signs of a fight had taken place inside the small business. Opoku appeared to have moved from his sleeping area toward the door before he died.
Christina explained that her husband had been staying overnight at his barbershop to stop thieves from breaking in. Criminals had robbed the shop several times before James decided to sleep there each night. She said her husband was healthy and active before his death occurred. Their third child had visited the barbershop Saturday evening to spend time with Opoku. Police will investigate what caused the unexpected death.
