Bayelsa sets burial plans for late deputy governor

A state prepares to lay its deputy governor to rest. Bayelsa Governor Douye Diri announced funeral arrangements for the late Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo following a state executive council meeting. A burial committee chaired by the Secretary to the State Government developed a multi-day program for the proceedings.

The schedule includes sporting activities followed by a day of tributes. Valedictory sessions will occur at the State High Court and the Executive Council Chambers. A requiem mass is planned at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Ofoni before the interment.

Governor Diri stated that the government, the family, and the church agreed on all planned burial activities. The coordinated effort aims to honor the deputy governor who passed away at the age of sixty. The process reflects a unified approach to commemorating his service.
