The federal government appointed Shirish Chandra Murmu as Reserve Bank of India Deputy Governor on Monday for three years. His term begins on October 9, succeeding M. Rajeshwar Rao, whose extended service concludes on October 8. Murmu presently serves as Executive Director at RBI, managing the Department of Supervision. The Appointments Committee of the Union Cabinet approved the designation.
