Ben Curran and Sikandar Raza return as Zimbabwe name Test squad for New Zealand series

Zimbabwe welcomes back Ben Curran and Sikandar Raza for their Test series against New Zealand at Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo. Curran rejoins the team after recovering from a hand fracture that sidelined him during matches against South Africa. The selection panel dropped four players to accommodate the returning duo and other changes. Brian Bennett resumes his position after missing time due to concussion, which led to Dion Myers being excluded from the current squad. Craig Ervine will captain the side with support from Sean Williams and Blessing Muzarabani.

The series represents the first Test encounters between these nations since New Zealand swept Zimbabwe 2-0 at the same venue in 2016. Richard Ngarava remains absent despite recovering from his back injury sustained against England. The opening Test runs from July 30 through August 3, followed by the second match from August 7 to 11. These contests fall outside the World Test Championship framework. Zimbabwe recently suffered a 2-0 series defeat to South Africa before participating in their current T20 triangular tournament.
