Bigboss Isaiah awaits bail ruling after cyberbullying row

A prophet got arrested for talking trash online. Elisha Rushinga, who calls himself Bigboss Isaiah, faced a Harare magistrate. His bail ruling is expected soon after a hearing where the state opposed his release.

Prosecutor Lawrence Gangarahwe argued Rushinga might flee. He said the man ran when police tried to arrest him. Officers had to chase him down. He allegedly assaulted two of them during the struggle.

The complainant is another prophet named Lloyd Gwasira. People know him as Madzibaba Moze. His church members alerted him about social media posts. They said Rushinga was insulting him on Facebook and TikTok.

Gwasira checked the videos and saw the attacks. Rushinga accused him of stealing state donations. He claimed Gwasira took money from his own followers. He said it was done under the guise of prayer services.

One specific video contained a major false claim. Rushinga alleged that Gwasira stole 2.6 million US dollars from members. He threatened to recover the money by any means necessary.

Another video included a horrific accusation. Rushinga said Gwasira poured acid on a woman's head. The woman was named Mai Adha Chireka. These posts caused significant emotional distress for Gwasira.

He felt harassed and bullied by the online campaign. The case is being heard before Magistrate Ruth Moyo. Rushinga was not required to enter a plea during this initial appearance. The court will decide if he stays in custody or gets bail.
