The United States entertainment media brand Billboard has made some changes pertaining to how online music streams will be weighted in relation to album sales that will be accounted for in terms of the Billboard ranking system that governs the Billboard Hot 100 chart and the Billboard 200 chart.

These upcoming changes will take effect on the 29th of June 2018 C.E. and what this means is that online music streaming plays from "paid" interactive music streaming services like Apple Music, Amazon Music, Tidal, etc, including hybrid interactive music streaming services such as Spotify & Soundcloud will carry more weight in terms of calculations that will be rendered towards the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

But as for ad-supported interactive music streaming services such as YouTube, the weighting towards the Billboard Hot 100 Chart will not have that much of an impact.

Yeah, but at the end of the day, artists/musicians who have a huge online presence and are supported by the industry are the ones that will top the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

However, in future I guess the whole entire Billboard Hot 100 will become completely irrelevant because we are now in an era where you have mumble rappers making money just from YouTube views, and earn more income from YouTube from doing vlogs, Instagram sponsorship, so why would one care about their song charting on the Billboard Hot 100.

Instead, mumble rappers will be uploading cheesy music videos on YouTube on a daily basis to pound YouTube servers with monetized content.

The Billboard Hot 100 won't matter to artists driven by the profit motive.

YouTube and Twitch will be more relevant than all these other platforms. I can also foresee Spotify innovating towards on-demand video streaming because videos and vlogs are the future.
