BJP lawmaker Khagen Murmu attacked by a mob in Bengal

BJP Information Technology Cell Chief Amit Malviya accused Trinamool Congress of establishing lawlessness in West Bengal after party workers allegedly attacked Lok Sabha member Khagen Murmu on Monday afternoon. Murmu was traveling to Nagrakata in Jalpaiguri district to assist with relief efforts for residents affected by recent floods and landslides in North Bengal when the incident occurred. Malviya criticized Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for her absence from the disaster-stricken region, stating that BJP workers conducting relief operations faced assault for their humanitarian efforts.

BJP Chief Whip Shankar Ghosh, who accompanied Murmu and sustained minor injuries, said Trinamool supporters attacked their vehicle with sticks and rods at Bamandanga. The assailants threw stones at the vehicle, striking Murmu on the head and causing severe bleeding, while the vehicle sustained significant damage. Malviya posted on social media that compassion was being punished in the state while the administration remained inactive as natural disasters devastated North Bengal.
