BJP lawmakers Khagen Murmu and Shankar Ghosh faced a violent assault on Monday while traveling to assist landslide victims in North Bengal. Attackers threw stones and bricks at their vehicles in Nagrakata, Jalpaiguri district, leaving the two-time MP with severe facial and head wounds. Ghosh suffered minor injuries as assailants continued their attack with sticks and slippers until security personnel intervened.
Opposition Leader Suvendu Adhikari accused Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of orchestrating the violence to prevent BJP relief efforts.
