Bobi Wine blocked from rally in Museveni’s home area

Presidential candidate Bobi Wine canceled planned campaign events in Kiruhura District on Wednesday after physical confrontations erupted between his National Unity Platform backers and ruling party supporters. The opposition leader intended to address voters in President Museveni's home region but faced blockades along Kaguta Road and in Sanga Town. Police deployed additional personnel following reports of injuries and disrupted transportation.

Wine relocated to the Kazo District, where he criticized authorities for restricting political access in Kiruhura. He emphasized equal campaign opportunities for all contenders and rejected tribal divisions within Ugandan society. Local security officials provided no immediate statement regarding the incidents. Wine's campaign schedule includes Isingiro District activities on Thursday. His team reported previous difficulties campaigning in the area during the 2021 electoral period.
