Briggs dares Tinubu on secret Fubara-Wike pact in Rivers

Niger Delta activist Ann-Kio Briggs demands transparency from President Bola Tinubu regarding secret accords with Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara. The activist challenges the president to reveal details of agreements reached during reconciliation efforts between Fubara and Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike. Tinubu mediated the June peace settlement that resolved Rivers State's prolonged political turmoil spanning nearly two years. Political observers suggest the governor agreed to abandon plans for a second term as part of the reconciliation package.

Briggs appeared on Channels Television's Sunday Politics program to voice concerns about closed-door negotiations affecting Rivers residents. The activist condemns backroom political deals that exclude citizens from decisions impacting their lives directly. She argues Rivers people bear the heaviest burden from these undisclosed arrangements yet remain uninformed about their contents. Briggs emphasizes that without knowing the specific terms negotiated, residents cannot properly assess how these agreements will shape their political future. The activist maintains that democratic transparency requires public disclosure of all negotiated settlements.
