Buhera Bandits Tie Guard Loot 11,187 Dollars

Five armed men stole cash from a money transfer shop Saturday night during a violent robbery. The criminals took US$11,187 and South African rand worth 31,300 from Mukuru outlet inside Murambinda Gain Cash and Carry. They also grabbed US$2,060 from the store's cash register during the attack. Security guard Stanley Chaboka and truck driver Kudakwaswhile Munyoro spent eight hours tied up with shoelaces. Police continue searching for the masked robbers who escaped after the crime.

The security alarm rang twice before the robbers struck around 8pm on Saturday. Chaboka checked the building both times but found nothing suspicious during his patrol. Five men wearing black clothes and face masks approached the armed guard near the store. One robber carried a gun and four others held wooden clubs as weapons. The criminals tied both victims with shoelaces and broke into the building through a bathroom window.

The gang damaged security cameras and cut open the safe to steal the money. Chaboka and Munyoro remained tied up until 4am Sunday morning when they freed themselves. The victims immediately reported the crime to Murambinda police station after escaping. Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka asks residents to provide information about the five suspects. Police offer rewards for tips leading to arrests of the dangerous criminals.
