Local guards fought armed bandits and saved nine kidnapped people around Kontagora town Thursday night. The battle happened between 9 pm and 10 pm near Niger State communities. One guard named Aliyu Agaji died during the fighting and another suffered injuries. Armed criminals had attacked two villages called Waya and Basawa earlier that evening.
