Authorities are investigating a break-in at the office of Home Affairs Minister Kazembe Kazembe that occurred over the weekend of Sept. 28, 2025. National police spokesman Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the perpetrators appeared to have detailed knowledge of the office layout and entry points. Government laptops and sensitive documents were reportedly taken from the high-security facility.
The incident follows a pattern of security breaches targeting senior officials. A break-in at Deputy Tourism and Hospitality Minister Tongai Mnangagwa's office occurred in 2024, and security incidents were also reported at properties linked to his cousin, Kudakwashe David Mnangagwa.
In a separate case on Sept. 27, fire damaged Elephant Lodge in Murambinda, Manicaland, which belongs to presidential special adviser Paul Tungwarara. Forensic investigators determined an electrical fault caused the blaze, and police classified the incident as accidental rather than deliberate. Both investigations remain active.
