Cancer Stricken Ex Minister Booted from SA Faces Court

Former Minister Walter Mzembi had to leave South Africa after his travel papers became invalid. His lawyer Killian Mandiki said Mzembi moved to Zambia at the start of last year. The former minister will appear in court today as the magistrate decides whether to drop his arrest warrants. Mandiki explained that doctors found Mzembi had serious rectal cancer that required surgery. The cancer spread and needed constant medical treatment.

Mzembi faced many hospital stays because of dangerous health setbacks. He traveled to Zambia when his health got much worse. Doctors put him in the hospital right away and gave him oxygen treatment. Medical staff watched him closely for more than ten days. The lawyer gave the court medical papers that proved how sick Mzembi really was.
