Canon Francis Mweheire, father of Stanbic Bank East Africa Regional Chief Executive Patrick Mweheire and a former classmate of President Yoweri Museveni at Ntare School, has passed away at the age of 85. The Anglican cleric had been receiving treatment in the Intensive Care Unit at Aga Khan University Hospital in Nairobi before his death.
His passing has prompted tributes from Uganda's banking sector, the Anglican Church, and alumni of Ntare School. Colleagues and family members remembered him as a mentor who exemplified integrity and Christian values throughout his life.
The body will arrive at Entebbe International Airport before services at All Saints Cathedral in Nakasero. Final burial arrangements will take place at his ancestral home in Marumba, Rukungiri. Canon Mweheire leaves behind his wife, Mary and several children.
