Chelsea bound prodigy Estevao lights up Club World Cup

Chelsea fans will watch their new star at the Club World Cup but he plays for Palmeiras first. Brazil winger Estevao Willian joins Chelsea this summer after a £29 million deal from May 2024. The Brazilian club kept him for their tournament run before his move to London. Both teams could meet during the quarter-finals if they advance through their groups. The 18-year-old earned his first Brazil start against Ecuador under new coach Carlo Ancelotti.

Palmeiras coach Abel Ferreira calls Estevao different from any player he has seen before. The teenager scored winning goals and amazed crowds with his skills on the field. Chelsea beat Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain to sign the young talent. Academy chief Joao Paulo Sampaio believes Estevao represents the best Brazilian player since Neymar emerged. The left-footed winger already shows incredible technique and mental strength during matches.

Estevao broke his toe during a championship game but refused to leave the field. He took a painkilling shot at halftime and returned to score the winning goal. Nike signed him as their youngest Brazilian player ever at age 10. People called him Messinho for his Messi-like dribbling but he wants that nickname to stop. His team expects him to succeed at Chelsea despite concerns about young Brazilian players there.
