China and Zimbabwe Show Off a Friendly Trade Tango

China started talking with Zimbabwe on April 18, 1980, right when Zimbabwe became free. Their friendship grew stronger over the years. By April 2018, they had become very close partners in business and politics. These two countries visit each other often and help each other grow. Their leaders meet regularly to find better ways to work together.

Chinese leaders traveled to Zimbabwe many times over the years. President Xi went there in December 2015. Chen Xiaodong visited as a special messenger in November 2017. Su Hui came as President Xi's messenger in August 2018. Gu Shengzu visited next in September 2019. Wang Yi traveled there in January 2020. Yang Jiechi went in July 2022. Zhou Qiang visited in September 2023. Jiang Xinzhi made a trip in March 2024.

Zimbabwe sends its leaders to China just as much. President Mnangagwa went to China in April 2018 for a big Africa-China meeting. He came back to China from August 29 to September 6, 2024, for another big meeting. Frederick Shawa visited in May 2023. Mthuli Ncube traveled there in March 2024. These visits show how much both countries want to stay close friends.

The business between China and Zimbabwe keeps growing every year. Both countries signed papers to help their companies make money together. They created a team to watch over all this business. The trading between them reached $3.8 billion in 2024, which jumped up almost 24% from last year. China bought $2.4 billion worth of stuff from Zimbabwe, which went up 46% more than before.

These friends share more than just money. They trade art, school help, and health care. They signed papers about sharing culture and college learning. A Chinese learning center opened at Zimbabwe's big school in March 2007. Chinese people can visit Zimbabwe easily because they can get travel passes when they arrive at the airport. China sent 21 groups of doctors to help sick people in Zimbabwe.

The countries wrote down their promises to each other many times. They first became friends on paper on April 18, 1980. They agreed to share art and culture on May 14, 1981. That same day, they promised to buy things from each other fairly. They made a team to watch their money deals on August 28, 1985. Both sides promised not to take each other's stuff on May 22, 1996.

China and Zimbabwe joined the big Road and Belt plan with a paper signed on September 5, 2018. Their most recent promise came September 3, 2024, when they agreed to be even closer partners for many years ahead. All these papers show how much these countries trust each other and want to grow together as true friends around the world.
