China gets Arrow Lake gaming upgrade

Intel launched its new Performance Optimizations feature for Arrow Lake processors, but currently, only Chinese customers can use it. The system works through special profiles that adjust CPU settings, including core speeds, power limits, memory timing, and data connections between tiles.

Chinese manufacturer Maxsun reports the feature boosts processing speeds about 200 MHz higher than normal. Their tests show gaming frame rates improve by around 10 percent. This helps address issues with Arrow Lake chips, which sometimes ran slower than older models because their new design created extra lag time.

The feature targets computer makers rather than individual users. It strikes a middle ground between factory settings and manual overclocking, letting companies offer faster systems without voiding warranties. Intel has been releasing updates since December to improve Arrow Lake's efficiency, with this optimization feature representing their latest effort.

Trade restrictions and supply problems keep the feature limited to China for now. Pre-built systems from companies like Maxsun come with these enhancements already enabled. If successful in China, similar preset options might appear worldwide later as an optional upgrade path for these processors.
