China Says Trade Wars Hurt Us All

Ambassador Zhou Ding said China stands strong for fair global trade rules during a research meeting at Zimbabwe's trade fair. He believes trade wars hurt everyone worldwide. His comments come after President Trump imposed heavy taxes on goods from many countries. Money experts worry that these taxes create uncertainty for businesses everywhere.

Trump stopped some higher taxes for 90 days but kept strict rules against China. He kept a general 10 percent tax on all imports. The US plans an 18 percent tax on Zimbabwe products starting next April unless changes happen. Zimbabwe sold almost $68 million worth of goods to America last year. Some large banks expect economic troubles in Mexico and Canada because of these trade fights.

Chinese leaders respect global trade systems based on clear rules. They promise to protect their rights along with those of other nations, especially those in the Global South. China built its success through careful planning that fits its unique situation. The country started rebuilding factories after decades of problems, changed direction in 1978, and has focused on high quality since 2012.

Their story shows each nation must find its path to growth rather than copy others. Chinese success came from steady leadership, joining global supply chains, and heavy investment in roads, schools, and new technology. They have upgraded old industries to be smarter and cleaner. China makes 13 million electric cars yearly and develops advanced computer systems.
