Chivayo cash floods Highlanders trust fund

Zimbabwean football club Highlanders has collected a second payment of 250,000 dollars from ZANU-PF supporter and businessman Wicknell Chivayo. Executive chairman Kenneth Mhlophe stated on Wednesday that the transfer brings total receipts to 500,000 dollars from Chivayo's pledged one-million-dollar commitment for the 2025 season. The funds arrived through a trust account managed by the team's curator.

Mhlophe explained that the money supports player welfare costs such as winning bonuses, travel costs and match allowances. Some resources are being used to finance training pitch improvements and perimeter wall construction at the Highlanders clubhouse. The chairman expressed appreciation for Chivayo's financial backing and said the support should lift team morale and performance. Highlanders officials anticipate receiving additional assistance that Chivayo has promised.
